Mr. Browder is a North Carolina native, born in Duplin County, and has a BA and an MPA from NC State University. Mr. Browder served in the armed forces in the US Navy. He is an active and fully participating member of Pittsboro Presbyterian Church. He retired from UNC-CH School of Public Health in December of 2005 after 31 years as a university administrator, including 8 years at UNC Wilmington, 3 years at UNC Greensboro, and 25 ½ years at UNC Chapel Hill. He is the Chair of Chatham County Board of Health and has a contract with UNC School of Public Health and Local Health Departments to teach Supervision seminars. He facilitates Strategic Planning retreats. He served on site visit teams for local Health Department Accreditation. He is the Chair for the Salem Presbytery New Church Development Task Group and Presbytery Connector for the Eastern Neighborhood of Salem Presbytery. He is a commissioned Lay Pastor, who preaches one to two times per month. He has experience on various Boards, including:

He and his wife, Paula live in Pittsboro, where she has a Private Therapy Practice. They visit their children and grandson in Washington State at least three times per year.
