Board of Directors
Mr. Olbrich has been a Board Member of the Chatham County Council on Aging for the past 7 years, serving as President of the Board for 3 years after retiring from IBM in 2000. For the past 2 years, he has been the chairman of the Finance Committee on this Board. He is also a volunteer income tax preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, preparing non-complex tax returns for low and middle income individuals. Each volunteer preparer must pass an IRS test and be certified for each tax season. He is also a Medicare counselor for the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) helping people eligible for Medicare understand the numerous complexities of the various parts of the program.
While at IBM for 37 years, 27 of those years were spent as part of IBM Europe, living 9 years in Europe. His career centered on the areas of Brand Management, Finance and Operations. Prior to becoming Brand Manager, he was part of the IBM financial team where he managed budgets from the department level to multimillion dollar divisions. Both areas provided Mr. Obrich much experience in many different disciplines from finance to manufacturing. He was the Director of Operations for the Consumer Division when he retired.
Prior to joining IBM, he worked for a year for the Boeing Company and then the Army. Mr. Olbrich has a BBA and MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan. In 1989, IBM sponsored him to attend the University of Michigan Executive Development Program which completed his formal education.
