Mr. McGrain spent three years as a US Army Infantry man from 1949-52 and was in combat during the Korean Conflict 7/50 to 6/51. He holds a B. S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and spent 35 years with The Witco Corporation; worldwide producer of chemicals, detergents and petroleum products with 2.5 billion dollar sales. He was President for 2 years of his homeowner’s association for Chapel Hill development. He was a member for 2 years on the Town of Chapel Hill Planning Board, and Vice President on the Chapel Hill Country Club Board of Directors for 2 years. Mr. McGrain directed a $2 million golf course renovation project at Chapel Hills Country Club for one year. He was the Portfolio Director, VP and President of Fearrington Bulls & Bears Investment Club for a total of 4 years. He was also President of Fearrington-Camden Park Homeowners Association for 2 years and a member of the Board of Directors of Fearrington Cares.
