Currently a resident of Fearrington Village, Ms. Taylor lived in Chapel Hill since early 1986. Ms. Taylor is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, 1964.

Some of Ms. Taylor's positions have included:

• Staff, North Carolina Supreme Court from 1964-1967.
• Legislative Assistant to Earl Vaughn in 1967.
• Executive Assistant to the Chancellor and to the Dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina, retiring in 1998.

Ms. Taylor's late husband was Ferebee Taylor, former Chancellor of the University of North Carolina. She has extensive knowledge not only of the history and people of the University of North Carolina but also of Chapel Hill, Orange County and of the State.
